2 revised paintings

The first one is by me from scratch (water color) and the second is from an exercise in a book also water color). I darkened the shadows in both and added the children playing in the first and yellow in the second. See the originals here. I may use the first one as my Christmas card for Christmas 2009 (or I may not, we'll see). For Creative Every Day's belated "Play" Theme.

I think the kids livened up that painting a lot. It was silent in the earlier version - now I hear that cold clear sound of children's voices over snow.

I like the way you let the white paper show through on the buildings, providing hi-lites and letting them blend into their setting.

Thanks so much Steve for your kind supportive comment! I have a long long ways to go to be as good as you are! But I learn something form every painting. I was terribly unsatisfied with the first version, and I do like this a little better.
