At the Beach near Eureka, California

At the Beach near Eureka, California. I recently helped my friend Leaflady move to California, and while I was there, I took these pix and about 300 others. The first image contains a rock formation of an old India woman looking out to sea. Click images to view larger. I used the batch edit function on Irfanview to batch resize these so I hope it worked OK, I forgot to check before I started posting 'cause I'm trying to hurry! These pix are for the beach theme in PhotoFriday. Check out what everyone else posted!

Wedding in the New Order VII

Wedding in the New Order VII, smudge painting by Mary Stebbins Taitt. Click image to view larger. This painting is part of the series, Wedding in the new Order and was painted for Illustration Friday. It illustrates, among other things, the immediacy, precariousness and risk of love. I have since painted another version of this which you can see here.

Fantasy Castle

This is Grad Predjama, Predjama Castle in Postojna, Slovenia. (Click image to view larger.) At this castle, the Robber Baron held off a year-long siege by escaping to a village in the next valley through the cave for supplies--and then was betrayed and murdered in his own bathroom! There are three layers of caves below the castle and one that goes up. It's a real place, but a sort of fantasy-like place as well. My fantasy would be to spend some time here doing research and exploring and write a children's story set here. For Photo Friday Fantasy theme. (Check out what others have done on this theme!) That's Biker Buddy with the catapult. The catapults were used in the siege. They have jousting here and other fun events. And weddings! (Now there's a fantasy!)

Echinacea

Echinacea, by Mary Stebbins Taitt. (Digital Smudge painting). This is the painting I was working on earlier and posted a picture of it on my computer screen. I think it finally might be done. I had to go back and study the flowers! What a meditation art is, how attentive one must be!

Make a Wish!

Make a Wish, by Mary Stebbins Taitt. Click image to view larger. In the butterfly room at the Detroit Zoo, there are hundreds of butterflies, and some will land on your finger. I think you must get to make a wish when that happens!
