Fringed Polygala

Fringed Polygala, by Mary Stebbins Taitt. Also known as "gaywings." These are not common wildflowers in most places I have been, but are fairly abundant at the Pinery in Ontario this weekend.

Girl in the Fog Revisited, with note

Girl in the Fog Revisited, by Mary Stebbins Taitt. I've reworked this
somewhat for the occasion. It was taken at the Pinery, where we're
headed.

I am leaving tomorrow to go camping at the Pinery for Memorial Day and
will be back late Monday night.

Have a great Memorial Day Weekend!

Round 2: Mole 5-6: The Overlook Tree

The Overlook Tree, by Mary Stebbins Taitt. Scanned and photographed
versions of my next one/two mole(s)(5,6) with Biker Buddy acting as
photographer's assistant. Done in Michelle's Mole with pencil, ink,
gouache, and crayola crayons, lol! I really had fun with this. :-D

Orchids, Chinese Brush Painting

Orchids, Chinese Brush Painting, by Mary Stebbins Taitt. I've been reading about Chinese brush painting and making various attempts at it. I can see why Zen brush painting is good for Zen practitioners; it really takes a lot of attention and I am NOT very good at it. The middle one was done on newsprint, which is recommended for beginner to practice on. But they don't come out as nicely.

I am also trying to learn the lettering but I am even worse at that. I understand that it has to be exactly right or means something else, but I know mine is NOT exactly right so I will tell you what it is supposed to mean: return to serenity. View my rocks here.

Fractal Flame Fireworks Flowers

Fractal Flame Fireworks Flowers, by Mary Stebbins Taitt. These are Oxidizer fractal flames modified in Photoshop. I haven't gotten the hang of Oxidizer yet. You can see the "out-of-the-box" version here. Thanks to meeyauw for her tutorial located here. Sooner or later I will get it!

Biker Buddy Rides again

Biker Buddy Rides again, by Mary STebbins Taitt.

Actually, this was a VERY quick black goache sketch of BB last night,
sitting on a chair in the shadows listening to a tape of PB
practicing. It's 5 x 8, on a new pad with new paint and a new brush.
It was really late at night and I didn't do a pencil sketch, I just
splashed some paint on the page. Probably the fastest sketch I've
done.

Study for crab painting

Study for crab painting, by Mary Stebbins Taitt. I am going to
attempt a water color painting of two crabs. This is the study for
the painting, a digital composit.

As happens way to often, after I posted this, thinking I was DONE with it, I made a variation that I think I like better at No Polar. THIS is supposed to be my master illo blog, but lots that get posted there are better. :-(

Moles (HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!)

When I bought my first ever moleskine for this project, I also bought
a water color mole. I did these pix in it. It's easier to paint in
than the sketch moleskine.

The first is another portrait of BB with watercolor pencils, and ink,
the second a friend at dinner, the third tulips for mother's day and
the fouth the robin which I attempted to paint in as Asian brush style.
I got some books about that but haven't had time to study them yet.
These were photographed rather than scanned.

Electrogirl's Electrovision glasses

Electrogirl and her Electrovision Glasses, by Mary Stebbins Taitt.

The girl started from a coloring page. I colored her and changed her some.

The electrical flower is what she sees through her special Ellectrovision goggles--the electricity in all things. Digitally manipulated photograph with Apophysis fractal flame superimposed. Do click on it to see it larger.

For Illustration Friday.
