Not a fractal in Green

Not a fractal in Green, by Mary Stebbins Taitt. I have trouble with
the fractal programs still, so I tried to make one myself in
photoshop.

This came out very well, Mary. I don't remember what fractal generator you said you're using but what sort of trouble are you having?

I have both Apophysis and Oxidizer.

I find them both confusing and difficult to use. Each has it's own problems. They do not seem very user friendly to me. I end up wasting a really lot of time dorking around with them.

Andree made a nice tutorial, but I just haven't had time to learn it properly--my own fault, prolly. If you have any good suggestions, let me know. Shortcuts and ways to make the images BIGGER would be helpful. I just feel as if I am floundering around.

I have made some nice images, but it seems to be mostly by chance rather than understanding.

Is there another better program? I think I'd be willing to pay for something more user friendly.

This is really cool. I'd love to know how you made this.

In photoshop I used the paint bucket set to pattern and laid down a pattern of squares (black and white) and then used the twirl filter under distort to twirl it. I made a duplicate layer and blurred it and used layer blending set to exclusion to get the color effect which I sharpened with auto levels. Then using hue, I moved the color slightly toward blue to make it a little more dramatic.

I made it as a gift for my daughter for her birthday.

I hope I didn't leave out any steps. When I am working in photoshop, I don't aways remember everything I do.
