Unfinished Painting of Echinacea. This is a painting I just started tonight. It is a smudge painting on Photoshop. I learned a couple new techniques for smudge painting, too, for example, turning on and off a saturation layer while working can give you more color and texture. Exchange, by Mary Stebbins Taitt. I did this rough smudge painting for this week's theme for Monday Artday, and decided, since it's one of my new art pieces, to also post it here. And I posted it at Silk Creek Portal, since it's a creek picture. Generally, I do not like to post the same painting to more than one place, so forgive me for that lapse. (I have been posting many versions of the same or similar piece to various websites and blogs, but this was totally unaltered in all three.)(For those few of you who visit more than one of my blogs, I apologize--Sorry!)Hey check it out! A note on the banner: when I switched over to the new Blogger and new blogger template, I lost my old banner. I couldn't reuse the old one because they didn't give me the option of placing it above the words--it could be under them or replace them, but not the way it was before. I was sad to lose the old banner and my attempts to replace it have been somewhat feeble so far. After multiple other versions, I think I will keep this one for a while unless I have an inspiration, because I have other things to do besides designing banners. I wish I had somehow saved the old one.

A Reason For Hope, revised

A Reason For Hope, revised, by Mary Stebbins Taitt. I repainted this painting digitally on my desktop computer for several reasons. One problem I have is that my tablet PC, on which I do my art, has an improper aspect ration so all the pictures come out wrong and have to be readjusted. I had not remembered to do that. I also hated the texture I added, so basically, I had to repaint the entire picture to get rid of it. I'm still not sure I am done with it.

See the earlier version here. Note: It did NOT look that narrow on my tablet when I painted it originally. The aspect ration on the tablet makes it look either much wider or much narrower depending on whether I paint in landscape or portrait mode. Landscapes look wider and portraits look narrower and then when I uppload them, they opposite on a normal screen. It is very distressing.
