Lucifer Hummingbird with Fuchsia, by Mary Stebbins Taitt. I made this small "Chinese Brush Painting" for Soldier Boy, my step-son, for his birthday. It will be placed on a card and given to him today at our annual family holiday event at ML's. I gave him another brush painting last year. A sad thing happened to that painting, but luckily, I scanned it. The black symbols on the bottom right mean peace, if I rendered them correctly, and the red symbols in the box are my signature. Since I never developed a signature, today's symbol means "wolf," which is one of my alter egos ("Lupo Grigio").

so beautiful, this painting feels like it is welcoming summer: the hummingbird, the beautiful bulb flowers––don't remember its name but i love this flower hanging on porches!––the white bkgd. just adore this, mary, and i don't care how redundant i get! :>>)) bravo! xoxooxox ~lt

The white background is typical of Oriental brush paintings. I am trying to learn to do them. I think it would be fun to apply them to local plants and animals.
Right now I am doing traditional Chinese subjects.
The flower is fuchsia. I love them too.
