Face: Geraldine Neely, 1975

Face: Geraldine Neely, 1975, by Mary Stebbins Taitt. This is a rough smudge painting of an imaginary woman about whom I am writing a "novel" in "poetry." Well, I am writing something, anyway. LOL! I may use a version of this as the cover of the book, or inside as an illustration. For Inspire me Thursday Faces theme. OK, I just added a new version (above). I thought I was done when I originally posted it, but kept seeing things I wanted to change. Now I think it is still not done, but I am out of time. You can view a poem about Geraldine when she was younger than this picture (she's 25 here). It is an early draft of the poem, which has since gone through a number of revisions, and it's formatting is a messed up, but it will tell you a little about Geraldine as a girl.

Thanks, Deli! :-D I am still staring at it thinking of things I want to change--the first one looked happier.

She looks like a fascinating character, and I can only guess at what you might write about her! I love her smile - and I think the top version is my fave!

Thanks so much Paisley and Carla!!

I meant to add a link to one of the poems I wrote about Geraldine that someone posted, but I forgot. (I was really busy the last few days! AK!)

I had a really good time trying to make the character in my imagination come "alive" in my "art!"

I think I am going to add a link.

She does look very happy. That's cool that you can create your character visually like that.

I like being able to visual them, it makes them come even more real and "alive" for me.
