Winter Fisher

Winter Fisher, by Mary Stebbins Taitt. All winter, this heron crouches by the shore of Lake St. Clare where the water movement and discharge keeps the water from freezing, though during that extreme cold snap, only a tiny hole was open. Posted by Picasa

Stand and Defend!

Stand and Defend! By Mary Stebbins Taitt.

This is a "painting" made from a photograph. I am trying to learn what can and cannot be done with smudge painting. I started intentionally with a really bad photo that was taken throught THREE fences in very very low light--just to see what I could do with it. It was an experiment and a learning experience. Here is the original so you can see what's been done. The deer, which used to roam freely on the island, are now in a defunct zoo. I made the columns into trees, pretending they were free again.
