Face: Geraldine Neely, 1975, by Mary Stebbins Taitt. This is a rough smudge painting of an imaginary woman about whom I am writing a "novel" in "poetry." Well, I am writing something, anyway. LOL! I may use a version of this as the cover of the book, or inside as an illustration. For Inspire me Thursday Faces theme. OK, I just added a new version (above). I thought I was done when I originally posted it, but kept seeing things I wanted to change. Now I think it is still not done, but I am out of time. You can view a poem about Geraldine when she was younger than this picture (she's 25 here). It is an early draft of the poem, which has since gone through a number of revisions, and it's formatting is a messed up, but it will tell you a little about Geraldine as a girl.
oh, a happy face, i can feel it with teh smudge you did!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Deli! :-D I am still staring at it thinking of things I want to change--the first one looked happier.
ReplyDeleteoh how i wish i had the talent to translate my characters onto paper visually... what depth i believe that could add to my writing.....
ReplyDeleteShe looks like a fascinating character, and I can only guess at what you might write about her! I love her smile - and I think the top version is my fave!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Paisley and Carla!!
ReplyDeleteI meant to add a link to one of the poems I wrote about Geraldine that someone posted, but I forgot. (I was really busy the last few days! AK!)
I had a really good time trying to make the character in my imagination come "alive" in my "art!"
I think I am going to add a link.
She does look very happy. That's cool that you can create your character visually like that.
ReplyDeleteI like being able to visual them, it makes them come even more real and "alive" for me.
