Water-color Pencils: Two sketches
Two sketches (or "paintings") I did in the last two days with water-color pencils (Real pigment on real paper!) Click images to view larger. The third is the second sketch digitally altered.
Thanks so much Joy and JoAnn. I am disappointed because I posted THREE pictures and they were all still there when I checked but two have disappeared and they were the two I wanted to post.
Okay Mary, don't feel sorry Mary, Today I saw all three of them, I stick with my earlier comment, because I love the bottom drawing THE MOST, the other two are good also, but 3 is more of my taste.
You are either a.) a much more accomplished artist than I remembered, or b.) have much improved since we were together a lot in Syracuse (10 year progress?)! Keep up the good work! I have to confess, I am not as excited about the computer-generated art/collage you do as I am about this drawing... I don't know why, but computer art by anyone (not just yours) never really thrills me. Computer art programs seem to suck the life out of technique, because much of the style is "pre-programmed" and you just push buttons to add more or less. It loses the human element of sensitive touch, I guess, to create certain strokes or certain looks. True, a human makes decisions this way or that while using the computer, but the computer seems like a huge barrier too, between artist and the work. Unlike a brush or pencil, which is such a simple tool that there seems barely anything between artist and the work.
Thank you, I am honored by your enthusiasm. I really appreciate it. I am not a reliably good artist, I ams till learning and not that good, but continue to try.
