3 new value sketches

My first ever intentional value sketches. These are done very quickly on newsprint. The first two are with markers and the last with watercolors. Click to view slightly larger.

  1. Creating with valued shapes as opposed to creating with line is a difficult transition for an artist to make. You've done an excellent job here, Mary. Continue down this road.

  2. I really had fun with this--I was resisting for a long time, for soem reason, but decided to give it a try and it was a lot more fun than I expected.

  3. There is a genius to the simplicity of the lone figure looking out at us that I love, that and I love the soft round edges. It's very feminine and I like that. There in the round of apple and the soft curves of the female form.
