The Gatehouse

The Gatehouse, by Mary Stebbins Taitt. Click image to view larger.

I am taking a water media class, 7 weeks long. I've had two weeks so far. This is one of my homework assignments. It is straight out of the book, Watercolor for the Absolute Beginner (or something like that.) I followed the instructions as best I could. It's definitely not flawless by any means. But I am pretty happy with it as a beginner's effort. This is my first art course since grade school.

Later: I made a brand new, larger color version of this painting.

Tulips at the Village Market III, a present for Jacob

Tulips at the Village Market III, a present for Jacob, by Mary
Stebbins Taitt. I painted this picture for Jacob for his birthday
with acrylics on paper (that is, not Photoshop) from a photo I posted
earlier. I may also attempt one in water colors. We'll see.

Color Mixing

I went to my 5-hour water media class today from 10-3:30 and learned
about color mixing. I made these three exercises and one posted at No
Polar Coordinates with three colors only, red, blue and and yellow. I
used no other colors, no black white grey green brown etc. They are
not great art, but I am learning to do greens and skin tones etc wioth
only the primary colors, mixed. It was fun and satisfying, even if
not particularly good. :-D
